Don and Vivian
Shafer
Don Shafer is the founding pastor of
the Rock Church of Anchorage. He met God miraculously as a teenager and after
Bible College entered into ministry. Pastor Don’s passion is to
see the church become less regimented and stuffy, allowing the Holy Spirit to
orchestrate more. He encourages all to listen to God and answer the call to
ministry for themselves, often giving opportunity to people to minister in the
church. His wife Vivian is a passionate worship leader and loves young people.
They have three children.

Tom and Renee
Galvas
Tom Galvas is a local business owner
who has been serving Christ for over 30 years. He was an elder and leader of
his own home fellowship for many years at a large church before the Lord led him
and his wife Renee, to the Rock Church. Here he serves as an Elder, bringing wisdom and
gentleness to the position. He is a gifted Bible teacher and leads a class on
Tuesday nights. Tom also ministers often in the Sunday morning service. His
wife Renee has a strong prophetic gifting and is a champion for unity and
fellowship at the Rock. They have three adult children who are all serving the
Lord.
John and Tammy
Huffman
John Huffman is a gifted teacher in
the body who also has a passion for research. John’s tireless search for the
truth and spirituality makes him an interesting speaker with a wealth of
knowledge to impart to his hearers. John has a strong desire to see the church
embrace all of the gifts, especially healing, and he champions the cause of
walking in the Spirit for the Christian. He and his wife Tammy make a great
ministry team. Tammy leads a Christian woman’s book club on Saturdays. The
daughter of a dynamic pastoral mom and dad team, Tammy has been in or around
ministry all of her life. She has a real heart for God and compassion for
hurting women. She is the mother of two beautiful girls.
Steve and Brenda
Robertson
Steve is our dynamic deacon, who
works tirelessly behind the scenes to insure that each and every person who
attends church on Sunday has a great experience. His wife Brenda is one of our
wonderful worship leaders who flows with the Holy Spirit very well. Together
this couple brings life and laughter into our midst.
Paul and Amanda
Merkel
Paul is the co-founder of the Rock
Church of Anchorage and director of his own prison ministry called IRONMAN
MINISTRIES. Paul’s passion is leading men who are behind bars to discover the
freedom they have in Christ, and he encourages people to be honest with each
other in relationships, where healing often comes. Paul also is a motivational
speaker who speaks regularly for outside groups about the dangers of alcohol
abuse. Paul is married to Amanda and they have two wonderful girls.
Mike and Laura
Tolman
Mike is a gifted “up and coming”
Bible teacher in his own right. He currently serves as treasurer for the Rock
and his wife Laura is the very capable secretary of the board of directors.
Laura also is a gifted speaker who ministers to the congregation. They are
recently the new parents of a bouncing baby boy.
