Hear the Wind. . . See the Fire. . . Feel the Spirit. . .

    About The Rock - A Dream . . .
Many good people are searching churches in Anchorage, looking for a meaningful Christian experience, or they have given up on church altogether.  What many of them are looking for is simply to experience the presence of God, find loving fellowship and connect with people who will care for and help them realize their own destiny in God.  Our goal is to be a healthy organism that will attract these people back into fellowship where they can find that meaningful relationship with God and others.  Let us help you rediscover your passion for God and his church.

    What is Church Anyway?
Jesus said "Upon this ROCK I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18. The greek word for church is Ecclesia and means "a called out people" or "group."  We are members of his church, living stones that Christ is using to build his house, with him as the chief cornerstone.  We don't just go to church, we are the church. The church began on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell on that little band in the upper room. The church must receive her power and direction from God.

      Our Vision Expanded

We seek to be a Christ centered, loving fellowship where people of all ages can experience God, receive training in the word, be empowered for ministry and reach our community.

Christ Centered – Christ is the head of the church, and we seek him first to guide, empower and bring unity to the body. Our fellowship is not around people, needs or doctrines, but around the living Christ.

Loving Fellowship – Every Christian wants to be in a church where he or she feels at home and is loved and cared for. We have Christ’s command to love one another as he has loved us. A major goal of this ministry is to develop a magnetic fellowship where everyone feels connected and no-one feels alienated, ignored or left behind.

All People Regardless of Age or Race – We value young and old alike, offering them nurture. Gray hair symbolizes wisdom and youth symbolizes strength. The Bible encourages the older to invest in the younger.  We value diversity of races.  Jesus said he has broken down the wall that separates races and has made us all one in him.  Ephesians 2:14

Experience God – God is omnipresent, but his love and power are not always felt. The word says that "God inhabits the praises of his people" and "where two or more are gathered together in My Name, there I Am in the midst of them." God manifests his glory in a real way in the midst of his people when they come together to worship in unity. We recognize this and look for him to reveal himself in our worship gatherings and touch lives. We also recognize that the average Christian is contending with the world on a daily basis and needs a time and place to meet with God amidst loving brothers and sisters, and be filled with his Spirit before returning to the daily mission field (home and workplace) ready to give out again. Part of this process includes giving time for the gifts of the Spirit in our gatherings. We value the gifts, especially prophecy, and recognize their function in the edification of the body of Christ. We do this in obedience to and in balance with the written word of God.

Training in the Word – The word of God is the final authority in spiritual matters and every believer draws closer to God by hearing and studying it. God promises blessing and success to those who meditate in it, and Jesus quoted the written word. We offer and encourage discipleship and Bible training outside of the regular worship services.

Empowerment for Ministry – Every Christian has a ministry and it is important to recognize those ministries without creating obstacles, and encourage and release people into those ministries as soon as possible, because "the fields are white for harvest." We offer training and discipleship in order to equip all people for ministry.

Reach Our Community – Christ’s command is to reach the lost, heal the hurting, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, give to the poor and visit the fatherless and widow, as well as those in prison. We seek to reach out to those in need and in working with other churches in Anchorage, unite in Christ for the benefit of the community.
